Creative Audio Quality Notes

Audio Quality

To ensure a quality listener experience, the quality of creative audio files (CODEC, bitrate, sample rate) should match or exceed the quality of the content delivery platform where the creative will be inserted. For example, if the creative is to be inserted in a podcast, it should at least match the podcast audio quality of MP3/128 kbps/44.1 kHz.

Using equal- or better-quality creative helps avoid unwanted audio artifacts when the Triton platform transcodes the creative audio files to match the live stream and podcast delivery platforms' quality settings.

Volume

The above recommendation for audio quality also applies to creative audio volume. Use creatives with a volume setting that is the same or slightly louder than the destination delivery platform. While transcoding does apply a certain level of volume normalization, there is a limit to how much it can normalize the volume of creatives that differ significantly from the destination.

On-Demand

On-demand delivery offers no creative transcoding, so the above recommendations do not apply, as the creative will be delivered as-is through the VAST response.

Note: variable bitrate (VBR) MP3 files are not supported; use constant bitrate (CBR) MP3 files.

Banner Usage Notes

There is no technical limit to the number of banners you can include in each ad unit, but be aware that performance can suffer when many banners are used.

All banner sizes between 1px and 3000px are supported, but the player will only select banners that are compatible with the device. Common banner dimensions include:

Video Usage Notes

  • The flight must be "Direct Sold" and can only be used with On-Demand delivery.

  • We recommend only using video creative with pre-rolls.

  • We recommend you use a video validator such as AdValify.io before uploading video creative, to ensure the video creative is valid and compatible.

  • Smart speakers that do not have video screens will just play the audio track of the video file. Currently, this is the case for most smart speakers, so we recommend excluding smart speakers from your flight's listener targeting.
