Delivery Troubleshooting in TAP

Prev Next

This article describes some of the things you can do to troubleshoot TAP flights that are not delivering.

Ad Markers

Are the ad markers in place?

  • Pre-roll

  • Mid-roll

  • Post-roll (for podcast)

Start date

Is the day you are checking on, or after, the flight start date? A flight will start delivering (if it has creative) on the day it is scheduled to start.

Creative

Is there creative? A flight will not deliver if there is no creative.

Targeting

If targeting, did you pull a forecast before booking the flight, and was it as granular as the flight is? Pull a new forecast query with the targeting and see if there is enough inventory. Check the contending flights as well.

Conflicting Flights

Double-check, in the flight, that there is no conflicting targeting. For example:

  • Flight excluding U.S but targeting a US DMA.

  • Flight is targeting Desktop (Listener targeting rule > User agent platform) and the creative is targeting a mobile app.

Audience Segments

If you use multiple audience segments (Listener targeting rule > DMP segments), is the operator (AND/OR) used logically with the segments selected?

  • (Illogical.) Female: 18-34 AND Female 45-54. A listener cannot be in the two different age groups; as such, this targeting will prevent the flight from delivering as it will never find a woman that is both 18-34 and also 45-54.

  • (Logical.)Female: 18-34 OR Female 45-54. Flight will target women who are between 18 and 34 years old or between 45 and 54 years old.

Station Tags

If the flight is targeting a station tag (Content targeting > Content tag) and needs to exclude one or more stations/podcasts from this group, check how the targeting was selected.

  • (Incorrect.) A common mistake is to select the station tag, save it and create another content targeting using the OR operator. The flight will look like the one seen below. In this case, the flight is instructed to deliver either on all the stations/podcasts within the station tag OR to exclude the two stations/podcasts selected; basically RON except for the two excluded stations/podcasts.

  • (Correct.) Station tag and excluded station(s)/podcast(s) should be added using the Add rule and create another content targeting rule button (AND rule. The flight will look like the one seen below. The flight is instructed to deliver on the stations/podcasts within the station tag EXCEPT on the excluded stations/podcasts.

Demographics

If the flight is targeting age and/or gender, double check with your organization that this information is passed from the player to Triton. If players do not pass age and gender information, this targeting will not work and it will prevent the flight from delivering.

In-/Out-of-Market

If the flight is targeting In- or Out-of-Market (Listener targeting rule > Market Targeting), double check with your organization that you have provided the station coverage information to Triton. If Triton did not have this information when implementing your stations/podcasts, this targeting will not work and it will prevent the flight from delivering.

Competing Flights

Pull a forecasting report to see if you have too many competing flights. Filter by:

  • Advertiser.

  • The station/podcast and position(s) targeted by the non-delivering flight.
