Filler Advertisers

Campaigns for filler content must be assigned to an advertiser in the same way that regular paid campaigns are. In this case the "advertiser" is simply a placeholder that you create as if it were a real advertiser. Therefore you need to create at least one advertiser that is specifically for your filler campaigns.

For live-streaming publishers, each station in the network typically handles their own filler, so the conventional thing to do in that case is to create a filler advertiser for each station or each group of stations.

You create a filler advertiser the same way you create a regular advertiser, but with these special tips and considerations:

  • For the advertiser name, use the call letters of the station that will use that advertiser, followed by the word "Filler" (e.g., "KSAD Filler"). This helps traffickers quickly find and assign the correct advertiser when creating filler campaigns. Alternatively, use the market or region name, such as Dallas Market Filler.

  • The IAB category should be "IAB-24: Uncategorized."

  • It is recommended that you include an ad separation override of "1" or "2," to allow multiple items from this filler advertiser to play in the same break if there are no eligible ads to play. (Default is “1,” so you can leave this blank for “1.”)

  • Leave all other settings as default. (There is no need to enter domain, billing, or additional information.)

  1. Advertiser Name is required.

  2. Currency is irrelevant as this is for unpaid campaigns, but as a best-practice you should choose your usual currency.

  3. Select IAB24: Uncategorized.

  4. Enter an ad separation override for this filler advertiser (typically "1" or "2").

  5. Click "Create advertiser."
