Direct Advertisers

Prev Next

Once you have arrived at the New advertiser panel, follow the steps below to create a direct advertiser. To create a filler advertiser, go here.

Advertiser Details

  • Advertiser name (required): Enter an advertiser name. Note that the name must be unique within the current organization. (Tip: if you are creating an advertiser to use for filler campaigns, follow the instructions and use the naming tips in Creating a Filler Advertiser.)

  • Advertiser type: Select Direct. (For reseller, see Reseller Advertisers.)

  • Currency: Select the currency to be used for the advertiser's campaigns. This is usually the currency in use in the advertiser's country. For more information, see Currency.

Competitive Separation

Use this section to specify the advertiser's IAB category for determining industry ad separation. Ad separation can be by industry, by advertiser, or both.

IAB Categories (Required): Select the advertiser's IAB categories (tier 1 and tier 2) from the drop-down lists. IAB categories ensure accurate and reliable ad separation based on industry. For more information on IAB Categories, see the Triton Digital Support Center Knowledge Base.

If you are part of the Triton Exchange, the categories you define for the advertiser will affect the blocked category list field that is part of the bid request. In this case we strongly recommend you do not use a top-level IAB category, as some demand partners (such as TTD – The Trade Desk) will only look at the top category (if provided) and will not bid with any subcategory.

To review the list of IAB category IDs and labels, see the IAB Categories definition in the glossary. You can bypass IAB Category industry separation by using the IAB24 - Uncategorized category in the advertiser's profile. This means that a flight from an IAB24 - Uncategorized advertiser can run alongside any other flight (although advertiser separation and frequency caps still apply, if present). See troubleshooting tip for more information.

Ad Separation Override

Optional: create an ad separation override if you want the ad separation for this advertiser to be different from the default competitive separation. If you leave this field blank (i.e., no override), this advertiser is limited to the default separation (usually one ad from this advertiser per break). This override is useful for special situations, such as filler advertisers.

If you add an override in this field, that override determines the number of other ads that must appear between occurrences of ads from this advertiser (within the break). For example:

  • If you use an ad separation override of "1" that means only one other ad needs to come between ads from this advertiser.

  • If you use an ad separation of "2" then two other ads must come between ads from this advertiser.

If you leave this field empty then only one ad from this advertiser can appear in each break (unless the publisher default is set differently in Settings).

  1. IAB categories for this advertiser.

  2. Publisher-wide default Industry separations. (This is just an indicator, with information pulled in from the Ad separation settings.)

  3. Ad separation override; use this to apply an override of the publisher-wide settings for this advertiser. (In this illustration there is no override applied.)

  4. Indicates how the Advertiser ad separation interval from the Ad separation Settings page is applied in the advertiser profile. In this illustration, the default (pulled in from Settings) is 3 ads per break. You can override this in the Advertiser profile.

Domain Separation

Use the Domains field to enter the advertiser’s Internet domain names if you want to use them for ad separation. For example, you can use this to create a competitive separation between direct and programmatic advertising based on the advertiser’s domain.

Billing and Additional Information

  • Enter the billing and contact information for the advertiser.

  • If applicable, enter the following optional additional information:

    • External ID: If you already have an advertiser name or ID number from a CMS or other system, enter it here.

    • Agency name: Enter the agency name if this advertiser is linked to an agency.

    • Agency external ID: Enter the agency ID if the linked agency has an ID number from a CMS or other system.
