Tap/Revenue Services: Live Streaming

Prev Next
The following minimum service and technical requirements apply to the Triton Digital ADVERTISING service (Tap and Revenue Services) for LIVE STREAMING service.

Station Manager Technical Requirements/Specifications for Live Streaming

Station Manager Software

When applicable, Client shall install and use the latest version of the Station Manager Software as the encoder at the station/studio location. The hardware on which the Station Manager Software is installed shall meet or exceed the minimum requirements listed below. Also, be aware that these recommendations assume the use of constant bitrate mounts; adaptive bitrate mounts require more CPU resources, thereby reducing the stated mount limits.

Triton Digital highly recommends observing or exceeding the "minimum hardware requirements."

Comment

Stations/mount points per equipment

  • Maximum Stations: 2 per machine
  • Maximum Mount points: 4 per machine
  • Up to 16 stations per machine
  • Up to 32 mounts per machine

It is possible to run more stations and mount points if you exceed the recommended configuration, but doing so requires approval from Triton Digital.

Processor

GeekBench6 score of at least 1000.

GeekBench6 score of at least 3000.

No CPU built before 2012.

No Atom, Pentium, Celeron, or other SOCs.

RAM

8 GB.

16 GB.

Hard Disk

64 GB of free storage space.

64 GB of free storage.

Operating System

Windows 11.

Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016 and higher are supported, but for best results use Windows 11. (Audio is disabled by default in Windows Server, so it must be activated.)

Windows 11.

Triton Digital strongly recommends using a version of Windows that is fully supported by Microsoft. Triton Digital is not responsible for issues that arise from problems with the host computer's operating system.

"Home" and "Starter" editions are not supported as they have limitations in terms of running multiple programs and services with high demand.

Be aware that no new installations will be made on unsupported software.

Also see: Windows Operating System Lifecycle and Triton Digital Support.

.NET Framework

.NET Framework 4.8 and above.

.NET Framework 4.8 and above.

Windows 10/11 includes .NET Framework 4.8.

For Windows Server the Station Manager installer will download and install .Net Framework 4.8

Internet Bandwidth

50% more uplink capacity than total stream output.

50% more uplink capacity than total stream output.

For example, If you stream a total of 128Kbps, you need 192Kbps upload bandwidth available.

Be aware that bandwidth usage can double if using Dual Streaming in a High Availability setup. If, for example, you have two mounts at 64kbps in a dual stream setup, the required bandwidth is:

(64+64) x 2 x 1.5 = 384kbps

Sound Card/Audio Acquisition Software

Microsoft Direct-Show- or ASIO-compatible sound card or comparable IP Audio software.

Microsoft Direct-Show compatible sound card or comparable IP Audio software.

See Signal Acquisition with Station Manager for some recommendations.

External USB Sound cards are not supported.

These minimum requirements and the recommended configuration both assume you are not running any other applications on your equipment except for the operating system, the Triton Digital applications, and any required drivers for additional hardware (such as sound cards). They also assume you are running from a "clean install" of the operating system, and are using constant bitrate mounts.
Be aware that installing and running other software might interfere with Triton Digital applications!
For additional information about Station Manager, including information on signal acquistion, sound cards, and evaluation benchmarking, see Station Manager Technical Requirements.

Client Equipment

During the Term of the Agreement, Client shall (i) ensure that Client Equipment is installed and maintained in accordance with Service Provider’s and manufacturer’s specifications, and any applicable industry standards and best practices; (ii) ensure that Client Equipment is compatible with the Services and does not interfere with or otherwise degrade Service Provider’s Network or Software; (iii) assume liability for all losses, risks and damage to Client Equipment; (iv) supply all the infrastructure, such as electrical outlets, grounding devices, and an anti-static environment required for the efficient and safe operation and maintenance of the Client Equipment.

Client Equipment” means any and all hardware, software, network, infrastructure and any other type of equipment which is used in connection with the Services, whether owned by Client or a third-party, and which is not under the direct control of Service Provider.

Equipment Change

Client shall notify Service Provider prior to any change made to Client Equipment (as defined in "Client Equipment" above) or processes that may affect, directly or indirectly, the streaming or metadata output.

Radio Automation Software (RAS) Metadata

Client shall provide electronically to Service Provider the Radio Automation System Metadata synchronized to the audio content. The Radio Automation System Metadata must at all times:

  • provide information about currently playing content;
  • be sufficiently descriptive of each individual item playing out;
  • be sent synchronously with audio content being played out;
  • contain information relative to every Service provided to client:
    • Streaming and delivery services require at a minimum:
      1. artist name; and
      2. title of musical content.
    • Royalty reporter services require at minimum:
      1. title of the track, as listed on the commercially released recording;
      2. name of the featured artist, as listed on the commercially released recording;
      3. International Standard Recording Code (“ISRC”), or (if the ISRC is unavailable) the combination of both:
        1. the album name, and
        2. marketing label
    • Advertising revenue services and Tap services require at a minimum:
      1. individual commercial breaks.

Radio Automation System Metadata” (also known as “PAD data”, “program associated data”, “RAS data”, “now playing data”, “break data” or “cue points”) means a collection of information sent by various playout systems that allow Service Provider’s systems to perform and deliver certain functionalities such as: displaying information about the currently playing content, detecting ad breaks, aligning data to audio and other data driven activities such as populating the Royalty Reporting data.
