A station is a representation within Station Manager of your streaming configuration. It coordinates the work of the components in order to stream the media and metadata to the Triton Media Relay.
You should have one station in Station Manager for every different broadcast source you wish to stream. For example, if your broadcast center has a radio station that delivers Top-40 music and another that provides nothing but traffic reports, and you want to stream both, set up two stations in Station Manager. Each station requires a feed that goes into a sound card, and each sound card feeds to a station set up in Station Manager.
If you wish to stream a station in several different encoding formats (MP3, AAC, etc.), you only need one station but you need a separate mount for each encoding format stream.
The relationship between the server, stations, and mounts
Stations are set up and configured by Triton Digital, and added to Station Manager by you. When you add a station you must enter its name and password exactly as it was set up by Triton Digital. When the station successfully connects to the Triton Digital Network, it begins streaming the media in the configured encoding formats.
Adding a Station
Triton Digital provides you with the information you need when adding a station. Typically, you (or someone in your organization) will already have spoken with a Triton Digital Solutions Specialist about the station’s configuration and the encoding formats that are to be used. That discussion provides Triton Digital with the information it needs to create the station on the Triton Digital Network.
Once the station is created on the Triton Digital Network, you are sent a message containing one station name and password set for each station to be added to Station Manager. Adding the station forms a link between your Station Manager client and the Triton Digital Network. Once the link is successfully made, the station appears in Station Manager and streaming begins.

To add a station:
- In the Station Manager tab, click Add.
The Station Properties dialog box appears. - Enter the station name (always UPPERCASE) and password that you received from Triton Digital.
- Click OK.
The station is added to Station Manager.
If the station’s name or password changes, you can update them in Station Manager by selecting the station and clicking Properties, and entering the new name or password.
Stopping and Starting a Station
When a station is running, you can click Stop to stop the streaming of that station without stopping other stations that are also running.
To start a stopped station, click Start.
Station run controls in the Station Manager tab
- Click Stop to stop this station.
- Click Start to restart this station.
Deleting a Station
You will rarely need to delete a station. Doing so removes the connection to the Triton Digital Network and stops streaming of the station. You should only delete a station if for some reason you need to rebuild it from scratch, or if directed by Triton Digital Customer Support.
To delete a station:
- In the Station Manager tab, select the station you want to delete. (You can multi-select, using the Shift or Ctrl keys.)
- Click Delete.
A confirmation message appears. Note that deleting the station stops its streaming. - Click Yes in the confirmation message.
The station is deleted. There is no “Undo.”
