For USA publishers migrating from Ando, Triton Metrics Royalty Reports contains data from the beginning of 2024 of your report history. If you need access to older data please contact Customer Support.
Royalty Reports in Triton Metrics is an optional feature designed to replace the SoundExchange features in the Triton Console and the Ando Royalty Reporting tool. It must be activated on your account before you see it in Triton Metrics.
For more information regarding the imminent sunsetting of the Triton Console Analytics, Dashboard, and SoundExchange features, see this Knowledge Base article.

Use Royalty Explore to view and export performance reports for use in SoundExchange and similar royalty distribution organizations.
Building a Query
The Royalty Explore query builder works the same way as the query builders in other Triton Metrics tools, such as Podcast Explore and Tap Explore. In brief:
Set filters:
- Select one or more publishers, groups, or stations.
- Select the date range:
- By default, the preset "Last month" is selected, but you can also select "Last Quarter," or enter a custom range of up to three months for any time period in the past two years.
- If you set a custom date range within two days of the current date you are warned that the data might not be complete and that you should leave a two-day buffer between the current date and the end date of your query. This warning appears because data can sometimes take several hours to appear, and can be affected by different time zones.
- Data corresponds to Station Time Zone (STZ).
Select dimensions:
You can de-select any dimensions that do not apply to you, and you can re-order the dimensions by de-selecting them and re-selecting them in the order you prefer. Note that data for some dimensions, such as Album and Marketing Label, is not always available.
- Album: Album on which the song was published.
- Artist: Artist name.
- Excluded Date: The date the item was marked for exclusion.
- ISRC: International Standard Recording Code. This dimension only returns data if your station is set up to send ISRC values in its metadata.
- Marketing Label: The song's publication information.
- Station Name: The station where the song was played.
- Title: Song title.
Run the query:
When you click Run, the query is run and the report appears after a few seconds.
- The on-screen report is limited to 500 rows.
- All reports show Total Performances and Play Frequency plus whatever other dimensions you select.
- You can sort the columns using the up-down arrows next to the column title.
- You can filter to show All items, Exclusions only, or Inclusions only. See Managing Exclusions.
- Use the search filter to find items in the current report without re-running it.
- In this example, the four default dimensions are selected.
- Run button.
- Filter to show all, exclusions only, or inclusions only. See Marking Exclusions.
- The report shown here is sorted by Total Performances. (The blue down-arrow indicates the sort direction.)
Marking Exclusions
Exclusion removal effective dates:
- When you remove an exclusion in the Royalty Explore page, the removal is effective as of the start date of the current report.
- When you remove an exclusion in the Manage Exclusions page, the removal is effective as of today (the day you remove the exclusion).
There are times when non-song information appears in a royalty report. This typically happens when items in the RAS (Radio Automation System), such as promos, sweepers, etc., are miscategorized as song elements.
Triton Digital recommends you review your Royalty report and remove the miscategorized items by marking them as exclusions before you submit the report to the royalty distribution organization. When you mark exclusions, you filter them out so they will not appear in any reports created for that time period or future time periods.
To exclude an item from the current and future Royalty Explore reports:
- Run the report, including the required dimensions.
- Select the Excluded box for the item(s) you want to exclude.
- Read the legal notice on the confirmation message that appears, and select the box if you agree with the statement.
- Click Exclude this item.
The item will be excluded from the current report (as of the start of the report's date range) and all future reports (unless you remove the exclusion at a later time).
Removing Exclusions
You can easily remove an exclusion from the current and future reports.
- If the exclusion is new (added to the current report but not present in previous reports) and you have not yet submitted the report to the royalty distribution organization, there are no legal or fiscal implications for removing exclusions. Follow the steps outlined below.
- If the item was excluded in a previous report, go to Managing Exclusions.
To remove a new exclusion from the current and future reports:
- Run the report, including the required dimensions. Tip: add the Excluded Date dimension to help you identify newly-added exclusions.
- In the report filter, select Exclusions only to only show items that have been excluded.
- Un-select the Excluded box for the item(s) you want to remove from the exclusions list.
- Read the notice on the confirmation message that appears, and click Remove Exclusion.
The item is removed from the exclusions list and will be included in the current (and future) Royalty Explore report.
Exclusions Usage Notes
When and how exclusions appear on the Managing Exclusions page and in Royalty Explore reports depends on when they were added or removed as well as the date range for the Royalty Explore report. the usage notes below should help you understand this delicate balance.
- Remember that Royalty Explore reports are based on a date range, while the Manage Exclusions list is based on a snapshot of the current exclusions at the time when you click the Run button.
- Exclusions in the Manage Exclusions page don’t always appear in a Royalty Explore report. This happens because the Manage Exclusions page shows only a snapshot of your current exclusions; if the exclusions were made after your Royalty Explore report end date, they won’t affect reports from before that date. To avoid this, exclude the items directly from the Royalty Explore report.
- Exclusions in the Royalty Explore report won’t appear in the Manage Exclusions page if those items were removed from the exclusion list after the end date of your report. To avoid this, remove the exclusions directly from the Royalty Explore report.
- When you remove an exclusion from the Manage Exclusions page on a day that is within the date range of a report in Royalty Explore, the item will appear twice in the Royalty Explore report; once showing it included and once showing it excluded. To avoid this, apply the same setting for both occurrences in the Royalty Explore report (either add both to your exclusions, or remove both).
Saving and Scheduling Queries
Once you have built your query you can save it for future reference. This makes it quick and easy to run the same type of query at a later time, or to schedule it to run automatically. Saved queries appear on the Saved Queries list. For more information, see Saving and Scheduling Queries.
Exporting
Click Export to export a report. Note that Royalty Explore exported reports only contain inclusions even if the on-screen report also shows exclusions.
Exporting Directly to SoundExchange
Broadcaster Administrators and Broadcast Managers can submit reports directly to SoundExchange.
