This article describes how to use TAP's exclusivity rules to exclude all ads from a particular industry except ads from your advertiser from delivering to a selected podcast. In other words, how to give industry exclusivity to a specific advertiser so the only ads from that industry are the ads from your advertiser.
Note that ads from other industries are not blocked when using this method. For example, in the example case below, a pizza restaurant get industry exclusivity on a pizza-themed podcast. This means that particular advertiser is the only one from the pizza or Italian cuisine industries who can advertise on the podcast, although ads from unrelated industries such as home renovation or automobiles can also play.
The instructions below assume you are already familiar with the basics of using TAP.
Exclusivity rules can only be created or edited by Organization Administrators.
To create an exclusivity rule, go to TAP's Organization Settings page, then go to the Exclusivity Rules tab. Create a rule that grants exclusive delivery access for the selected advertiser to a selected podcast, as shown below.
To create a rule to provide industry exclusivity to your advertiser for all episodes of a podcast:
Name the rule.
Enter a date range during which the exclusivity rule applies.
Select the advertiser. (In this example the advertiser is a pizza restaurant: "Fiona's Dodecahedron Pizza.")
Select the advertiser's IAB category. Tip: for best exclusivity, also select similar and related industries. In this example we select both "IAB8-22:Pizza" and "IAB8-13: Italian Cuisine."
In the Targeting section, select the podcast that the exclusivity applies to. (You can further refine to select one specific episode or multiple episodes; in this example we select the podcast by name, so it applies to all episodes.)
Create (save) the exclusivity rule.
Result: When the start date arrives, no ads from the selected industries (in this example case, "Pizza" and "Italian Cuisine") will deliver to the selected podcast except ads from the selected advertiser, which in this case is a pizza restaurant. This does not prevent ads from other industries, such as home renovations or automobiles from delivering to the podcast.
