Working with Mounts and Capture Devices

Prev Next

The Media Encoder converts the original input signal into the various encoding formats that are used to stream audio. It contains a mount for each media stream.

Media Encoder Tab

Use the Media Encoder tab in the Add-ins area to adjust the settings and check the status of your mounts. Each mount has its own panel to display encoding information and status.

  2. Click the up/down arrow button to show or hide the mount details. In this example, one mount is hidden and two are visible.
  3. Click Devices to view and modify the mount’s device settings.
  4. The Advanced section shows logs and other advanced data. Click the up/down arrow button to show or hide the Advanced section.
  5. Mount's level meter.

Choosing a Different Capture Device

By default, the computer’s default input devices are chosen when you add a station in Station Manager. If you have multiple input devices you may need to change which one is used for your stations.

Use the nested Devices buttons on the Media Encoder tab to choose which capture device is used for each station. Each station has a parent devices selector, and each mount has its own devices selector that lets you choose the device for a particular mount. Typically you would use the same device for all of a station’s mounts by selecting it with the parent-level selector.

Caution!
If you change the device settings at the parent level, it overrides any custom settings you previously made at the mount level.

To choose a different device:

  1. In the Media Encoder tab, click the Devices button for the station or mount you want to choose a different device for.
    The Devices dialog box appears.
  2. For the Audio Track Device, click the arrow on the pull-down list to reveal the list of available devices.
  3. Choose a device.
  4. Click OK.

Managing Input Levels

You can change the input levels for your capture devices. Be aware that changes you make here are made at the device/driver level, so they are applied to every application that uses the device.

The levels controls that appear can vary, depend on the devices and drivers installed. Some devices allow for more control than others. Use these controls with caution, as mismatches between your sound card's settings and your station's mount settings from the Triton Console can cause streaming problems!

To change a device’s levels:

  1. In the Media Encoder tab, click the Devices button for the station or mount whose settings you want to modify.
    The Devices dialog box appears.
  2. Click the Device Settings button for the device you wish to modify.
The device’s levels dialog box appears.
  3. Adjust the levels.
  4. Click OK.

  1. Click "Reset Capture Device Settings" to return to default settings.
  2. Warning! Sample Rate mismatch between your capture device and your mount settings (in the Triton Console) can cause streaming problems. Do not change this without consulting Triton Digital Customer Support.

Working with Omnia Processors

There is a special integration setup for Omnia processors which resolves delay issues and reduces CPU usage. It also means you can use your Omnia presets directly in Station Manager.

If you use an Omnia processor, the Omnia Enabled checkbox on the Device Settings dialog box becomes enabled. Select the checkbox to enable Station Manager’s Omnia integration settings.

Omnia Integration Notes

  • You must use version 1.7.0 of Omnia A/XE (or higher).
  • You do not have to set up an audio processing instance in Omnia.
  • Omnia works on a “first come, first serve” basis, so if you have one Omnia licence and two or more stations, Omnia will load on the first station (device) that connects. If you want to use it on a different station, simply deselect the Omni Enabled checkbox in the Audio Capture settings where it is loaded, and select it on the one where you want it to run.
  • If you have one Omnia license and two or more stations, the Omni Enabled checkbox will appear to be enabled on the stations that are not using the Omnia license. However, if you select the checkbox, it immediately de-selects itself, as the Omni license is already in use.
  • Under most conditions, the Omni Preset should be set to “Normalized.” If in doubt, use “Normalized.”
  • To create a preset in Omnia, you must set up an input and output in the Omnia GUI, then create the preset, then remove the input and output. Note that the new preset will not appear in the Omnia Preset drop-down list until you re-start Station Manager.
The Omnia Enabled checkbox and settings appear in the Audio Capture Settings dialog box even if you do not use an Omnia processor. In that case, they are greyed-out and not selectable.
