Submitting your podcast to Spotify podcasts with Omny Studio is easy!
You do not need a Spotify account to submit your podcast from Omny Studio.
To monetize your podcast in Spotify, you need a Spotify Creator account.
You can submit your podcast for free, Spotify does not charge you any platform fees.
Podcasts that you submit can take up to 24 hours to appear in Spotify.
Submit a Playlist to Spotify
To submit a podcast to Spotify, your Omny playlist must have Public or Unlisted visibility.
Find the playlist that you want to submit.
In the Details tab, expand Submit your podcast to podcast directories, select Spotify.
Check to confirm your agreement with the terms and conditions then select Submit to Spotify.
Audio-only playlists: If you have a Spotify Creator account, you can claim your playlist in Spotify.
Playlists with video: Enable video distribution for Spotify.
Distribute Video Podcasts with Spotify
Spotify web players and mobile apps that support video can play video clips in the Omny playlists that you have submitted to Spotify.
Monetizing video podcasts in Spotify
For Omny-hosted video podcasts that you distribute with Spotify, Spotify handles monetization for both video and audio episodes on Spotify. You can use the Spotify Audience Network platform (SPAN) to manage this monetization. You cannot use TAP to monetize video podcasts that are played on Spotify.
Control Spotify video distribution for your Omny organization
You can control video distribution for all playlists that you have submitted to Spotify with Organization settings > Distribution > Spotify settings. For more information, see Settings inheritance in Omny Studio.
Find the playlist that you want to submit.
If you haven’t already submitted our Omny playlist to Spotify, go to the Details tab to copy the playlist’s RSS URL.
Go to the Distribution tab then scroll down to Spotify video.
Do one of these:
If you have already submitted your playlist to Spotify, check Enable video distribution to Spotify then select Save changes.
Either select Create show in Spotify, or paste your playlist’s URL then select Connect Show. To create a show in Spotify, you need a Spotify Creator account.
Artwork for Video Clips
Spotify uses 16:9 images for thumbnails. If no 16:9 artwork is available for your video clip, Spotify uses the clip’s first frame. To specify artwork for a clip, see Artwork.
Ad Markers for Video Podcasts in Spotify
If you use the Spotify Audience Network (SPAN) for monetization, Spotify requires that your clips have at least one ad marker. If you do not place ad markers in Omny, Omny places a default pre-roll ad marker for you in Spotify. If you later place ad markers, then Omny replaces this default pre-roll marker.
Analytics for Video Podcasts in Spotify
For Omny playlists that contain video clips that you distribute with Spotify, you can still use Omny analytics:
Spotify analytics are not IAB-certified.
Instead of downloads, Omny Studio only shows plays as reported by Spotify.
Omny shows plays for the whole playlist, both video and audio clips.
If you have submitted a video podcast after submitting a playlist, older audio clips continue to appear as downloads while older video clips appear as plays. Clips that you add to the playlist after submitting it as a video podcast will appear as plays.
