Station Manager updates are automatically pushed to you by Triton Digital. Installing updates is mandatory, although you can schedule when the installation will occur, and you can choose the level of update you wish to accept. You can even freeze updates temporarily.
When an update is available, a notice appears in the Station Manager client. You have the option to install the update immediately or according to the schedule you set. Be sure you have followed the recommendations described in Antivirus Settings.
Scheduling Updates
You can specify when updates are applied, and what level of update to apply.
To set your update schedule:
- From the Station Manager menu bar, select Server > Update Schedule.
The scheduler appears. - Use the Release channel drop-down menu to choose the level of update you wish to apply at the scheduled time:
- Early Access: choose Early Access if you always want the most up-to-date releases and you want them immediately upon release. Early access releases have been tested in-house but have not been extensively "field-tested" so there is a small risk it contains one or more bugs.
- Normal: choose Normal to get up-to-date releases that are rolled out within a few days of release, allowing time for more extensive field testing. This is the default option and is recommended for clients under normal circumstances.
- Critical: choose Critical if you only want to install updates that are considered critical to the functioning of Station Manager. This is the safest option, but at the expense of losing access to new features and enhancements as well as fixes for non-critical bugs.
- Choose the time of day and day of the week when you want the update to be applied.
- Click OK to accept the schedule and dismiss the scheduler (or click Apply to accept the schedule and keep the scheduler open).
To skip the schedule and update immediately, open the scheduler and click Check Now to see if there are any updates pending. If an update is available, click Update Now to apply the update immediately.
- "Check Now" button. Click to see if an update is available.
- "Update Now" button. If an update is pending, this will not be greyed out; click to run the update immediately.
- Wait for the installer to download and install the update. It might take a few moments.
Freezing Updates
You can put a temporary freeze on automatic or scheduled updates by selecting a date range on the Update Schedule panel. Enter the dates during which you want the updater to not automatically apply the updates. Note that it is possible to enter a start date and no end date; this will freeze updates indefinitely (or until you change it to a specific end date).
To re-enable automatic updates (that is, to cancel "Freeze Updates") simply click the [x] to clear the calendar entries in the Freeze Updates section and click OK. Automatic updates are re-enabled.
