Transition Timeline

  • V4 Player and its web admin page: Retires on December 15, 2026.

  • Temporary transition player: Available as of August 15, 2026. Retires on March 15, 2027.

Triton Digital recommends using our fully supported, actively maintained Player Widgets. This option requires minimal development on your part, and it stays current with future platform updates.

This option typically takes a single day to transition from a V4 Player.

Option 2: Build Your Own Player

Use this option if you need full control over your player’s design and behavior. This requires development resources. You can optionally use the Triton Web SDK for features like playback control, metadata, ad handling, and analytics.

The duration of this transition depends on your team’s development schedule. We recommend starting well before the December 15, 2026 deadline. If not possible, links to your V4 Player will be re-directed to the temporary transition player until it is retired on March 15, 2027.

  1. Review the Web SDK documentation to understand the available APIs.

  2. Set up a development environment and install the SDK.

  3. Build your custom player UI.

  4. Test streaming, ad breaks, and metadata display against your live station.

  5. Validate and deploy before December 15, 2026.

  6. Share the URL of your new web player with your Triton account team so we can redirect users from the Listen Live URL, player.listenlive.co, to your website.

Option 3: Work with a Third-party Provider

If you'd prefer not to build or maintain a player in-house, we can recommend experienced development partners who specialize in streaming player integrations.

The duration of this option depends on the timeline you arrange with the partner. We recommend starting well before the December 15, 2026 deadline. If not possible, youʼll be re-directed to the temporary transition player until it is retired on March 15, 2027.

Temporary Transition Player

To ensure uninterrupted streaming, Triton provides a temporary transition player. It’s available as of August 15, 2026. It retires on March 15, 2027.

You can preview your player with the temporary transition player today by prefixing your existing V4 Player’s URL with next-. Example: If your V4 Player’s URL is https://player.listenlive.co/16531, then its transition player’s URL is https://next-player.listenlive.co/16531.

The transition player is not a long-term solution

Use the transition player to confirm uninterrupted streaming during the transition window. The player is a temporary bridge only. It has no administrative interface and no new players will be created on it.

Transition Checklist

  • Decide which transition option fits your needs: Player Widgets, build your own player, or a third-party provider.

  • Preview the transition player using the next- URL prefix.

  • Implement and test your new player solution.

  • Confirm playback, metadata, and ad delivery work as expected.

  • Replace any usage of Triton V4 Player URL with your new web player URL.

  • Share the URL of your new web player with Triton so we can redirect listeners that still use player.listenlive.co to your website.

  • Confirm your permanent player is live before March 15, 2027, when the transition player is retired.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to requests for my V4 Player’s URL?

Requests to your Listen Live URL at player.listenlive.co for your V4 Player will automatically redirect to your new player URL when you provide it.

What happens if I do nothing before December 15, 2026?

Streaming won't be interrupted. After December 15, 2026 your V4 Player will automatically redirect to the temporary transition player. However, you'll still need a permanent solution in place before March 15, 2027.

We recommend starting well before the December 15, 2026 deadline. If that’s not possible for you, youʼll be automatically re-directed to the transition player until you can plan the work in January or February 2027.

Can I keep using the transition player long-term?

No. The transition player is temporary only, has no administrative interface, and will be retired on March 15, 2027.
