YouTube API

The YouTube API Settings are only available to Broadcaster Administrators.

YouTube integration is used to connect your YouTube account's usage data to Triton Metrics via the YouTube API so your YouTube viewing data can be integrated into your Podcast Metrics reports.

By default, the YouTube Integrations page shows all accounts that have been integrated, but you can use the quick filters to only show linked accounts or revoked accounts.

Account Status

Your YouTube account name appears on the YouTube Integrations page. The account status will be one of the following:

  • Not Linked: The account is recognized but the API is not linked to the account.
  • Linked: The account is linked to Triton Metrics via the YouTube API. If there is a connection or link error, the status is still "Linked" but a warning icon appears.
  • Revoked: The account was previously linked, but the link has been revoked.
  • Pending: If this is a third-party account, the status is "Pending" until the account owner completes their part of the API integration.
  • Canceled: If this is third-party account, this indicates the account owner has rejected the request for API integration, or you have canceled the request from the Options menu.

To integrate a YouTube account you must first add the account to the integrations list, which also links it to the YouTube API. You can then un-link (revoke) and re-link the account as needed.

Integrating a YouTube Account

If the account you are linking to is a multi-channel network (MCN) owner account, the channels under the owner account are included in the data read by the API. If you plan to link a MCN owner account, discuss it with your Triton Digital representative first, to ensure the feature is implemented correctly.

The steps below assume you are linking to an account that you (the publisher) own. To link to a third-party YouTube account, see below.

To integrate and link a publisher-owned YouTube account to Triton Metrics via the YouTube API:

  1. Go to Settings > Measurement > Youtube API.
  2. Click +Add YouTube Integration and select Add publisher-owned integration.
  3. On the New YouTube Integration panel that appears, enter your YouTube account name.
  4. If you own multiple YouTube channels:
    1. Select Own multiple channels
    2. Enter the Youtube Content Owner ID for the account you want to link to.
  5. Click Sign in with Google.
  6. Your browser switches to your account page on Google/YouTube. You are prompted to sign in with Google.
  7. Sign in to your Google/YouTube account.
Note: the remaining steps take place in the Google/YouTube user interface and are subject to change without notice.
  8. Review the message on the screen, then select both checkboxes to allow the Triton Digital Metrics UI to access your Google account.
Note: if you have previously allowed this access, you will see the access information only without the checkboxes.
  9. Click Allow to allow your publisher account to access your Google/YouTube account via Triton Metrics.
Your browser returns to the Triton Settings page. Your publisher is now linked.
