# Station Manager 5 User Guide

**Station Manager from Triton Digital** lets you set up, control, and monitor media encoding and streaming from the source (a live radio broadcast or web radio stream) to the Triton Digital Streaming Network. The Triton Digital Streaming Network then streams your media, via the internet, to consumers around the world.

Station Manager is composed of a client and server, installed together on the same machine, which work with the Triton Digital Network to encode and stream your media. It includes a graphical user interface (GUI) that you use to monitor and manage the streaming process.

This Station Manager 5 User Guide includes installation instructions, some configuration details, and information on how to use Station Manager. Be sure to look at the [architectural overview](/v1/docs/architectural-overview) before using Station Manager, as it will help you understand the various inputs and outputs, as well as the tools and tasks that are described in this user guide.

This user guide is intended for computer technicians at radio stations using Station Manager. It assumes you have access to your network and are familiar with working in a Windows network environment.

This user guide assumes you are streaming from a terrestrial radio broadcast station. Station Manager works equally well with internet-only Web radio.

## What's New in Station Manager 5

**Station Manager 5** introduces the following enhancements:

- Streamlined installation.
- Faster response time when navigating in the UI.
- Seamless update process, including [automatic and scheduled updates](/v1/docs/automatic-updates).
- [Fewer files](/v1/docs/installing-station-manager#installed-file-locations): Station Manager 5 does not put a folder in your Windows root directory, and uses fewer folders for log files.
- Easier application management: Station Manager 5 always functions with both client and server installed on the same machine.
- The **Server Navigator** from Station Manager 4 is gone, as it is no longer used.
