# Save and Schedule Queries

You can save queries to reuse them later in [Webcast Explore](/user/docs/streaming-explore), [Podcast Explore](/user/docs/podcast-explore), [TAP Explore](/user/docs/tap-reports-tap-explore), and other measurement tools. You can also schedule saved queries to be generated and emailed.

Saved queries appear on the **Saved Queries** list.

> [!TIP]
> Tip: Naming a query
>
> Give your query a name that is useful and easy to sort and understand, especially if you plan to save many queries. The name must be fewer than 255 characters, including spaces. Also, the query name is used as the subject line when Triton sends scheduled queries by email.

## Save a Query

1. After building the query, select **Save** at the bottom right of the query builder.
2. Enter a name for the query.
3. Select **Save New Query**.
4. If you had previously saved the query and have made changes to it, the button says **Update Query**. You have the option of changing the query name and saving it as a new query.

## Run a Saved Query

Find the query then select the query's name or select its **Actions** button.

## Rename a Saved Query

There are a couple of ways to rename a saved query:

- With the saved query open in its application, select **Save.** When the **Save Query** form appears, enter a new name and select **Save New Query**. This creates a new saved query with the new name. The original query is still available in **Saved Queries**, which you can delete.
- Go to **Saved Queries**, select the options menu, and select **Rename**. This renames the original query.

## Edit a Saved Query

1. Go to the **Saved Queries**page.
2. Select the saved query to open it.
3. Make any changes that you want to make to the saved query.
4. Select **Save**.
5. In the **Save**dialog box, select **Update Query**.

## Schedule and Email Reports

Once a query is saved, you can schedule it to be generated then emailed to you on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. By default, the time zone used is your local time zone, but you can select a different time. You can create up to 30 scheduled queries.

You cannot schedule a saved report that uses a fixed date range. You can only schedule reports that use flexible date ranges such as **Last 7 Days**, **Last Month**, and so on.

> [!TIP]
> Tip: Receiving emailed reports
>
> The emailed report is sent from [noreply@tritondigital.com](mailto:noreply@tritondigital.com). Be sure to allow that address in your email client's spam filter.

### Add a Scheduled Report

Choose one of these methods:

- While building a query in Query Builder:
  - Select a flexible date range such as Last 7 Days or Last Month. You cannot use a fixed date range.
  - Save the query.
  - Select **Schedule** from the bottom of the Query Builder to open the **Add Schedule**panel.
- From the **Saved Queries** list, open the query’s options menu and select **Add Schedule**.

Once the **Add Schedule** panel opens, choose the scheduling options and select **Apply**.

### Edit a Scheduled Report

To edit an existing schedule, either select the **schedule icon** in the Saved Queries list, or select **Edit Schedule** from the query's options menu.

### Set Report Scheduling Options

#### Email

- The default recipient of the scheduled report is the email address of the person who is logged into the Triton Metrics module (that's you).
- You can add other recipients by entering their email addresses in the field below your email address and selecting **Add**.

#### Interval

- For **Daily** reports, choose the time of day and the timezone when the report will be generated and sent.
- For **Weekly** reports, choose the day of the week, the time of day, and the timezone when the report will be generated and sent.
- For **Monthly** reports, choose the day of the month, the time of day, and the timezone when the report will be generated and sent.

> [!TIP]
> Tip: Setting the schedule date and time
>
> For an **Interval** of **Month**, select **1** as the day of the month. If you choose a day that does not occur in every month (such as 31), Triton does not run the query in months that do not include that day.
>
> To ensure your scheduled reports include all the data you want, set the schedule time to be after 11:00 UTC. For details, see [Expected Data Delays](/user/docs/expected-data-delays).

## Query ID and Metrics API

Every saved query has a **query ID** that you can use to send the resulting data to your business intelligence (BI) applications via the [Triton Metrics API](/v1/docs/triton-metrics-api).

Important

The Triton Metrics API can only access queries that were saved by the same user who created the queries. Be sure to log in with your Triton Metrics API access username before saving queries, and when you want to retrieve query IDs and use the API. For more information, see [Using the Query ID and Metrics API](/v1/docs/using-the-query-id-and-metrics-api).
