Q&A Content Delivery

Office Hours and Webinar Q&A transcripts are lightly edited for clarity and brevity and are presented here for your convenience and to ensure the answers to important questions are shared. Answers are accurate at the time they are transcribed and presented, but due to on-going feature development and continuous improvements, some answers might be out of date when you read them. If there is a conflict between a Q&A answer and the related user guide, the user guide takes precedence.

Below is a selection of questions and answers captured during Content Delivery Office Hours sessions and Wednesday Webinars. Newer items are at the top.

How can I fix the alignment with the debugger for those streams that don't use Station Manager? (Telos, Wheatstone for example.)

You can use software such as Audacity (free audio wave editor) and record the stream. Then, as breaks come and go, you can hear the ad replacement occur and when it happens. Then open the waveform in Audacity and look at the delays that occur. From there you can adjust your alignment. This is more time consuming, as once you make the adjustments, save, listen again, adjust again etc. until you get it right, it can sometimes take hours.

When monitoring cue points, what does it mean if the dot is red?

It indicates a problem with the metadata. Start going down the troubleshooting chain to find where the chain broke. Most of the time it breaks between the automation system and the encoder (Station Manager).

What could block the metadata (or break the chain)?

  • IP address changes of the automation systems (often due to an automated update which restructured the network and changed the IP addresses).

  • Windows updates can turn the firewall back on which can then block metadata.

What is “Stream Access Control” (in Console Streaming menu) for?

Stream Access Control allows you to set geographic and/or dates restrictions. Find out more here.

Can metadata be sent to the on-premises recorder for Omny Studio?

Not for the on-premises agent. It only supports a raw audio stream.

Are there any reports we can pull from the Streaming Console?

A lot of information can be found in the Webcast Metrics report, to find out more see our help guide. Should you need data not available in WCM, reach out to your PDM or our support team.

Is the troubleshooting tool in real time, or can we check back in time (e.g., what happened two hours ago)?

Our playground troubleshooting tool captures real time. You can not get historical information.
