# Player design - HTML5 audio element considerations for listener measurement

Publishers who use HTML5-based web or application players, and who use Triton Metrics for listener measurement, should consult the [*Triton Digital Measurement Guide*](/user/docs/web-player-and-application-guidelines) for specific tips on how to use the HTML5 `<audio>` element. In particular, **pre-loading/pre-fetching** and **stop/pause** can affect Triton Metrics measurements, so Triton Digital recommends using the workarounds described in the Measurement Guide (in the ["Web Player and Application Guidelines"](/user/docs/web-player-and-application-guidelines) section).
