# Market Share

> [!NOTE]
> Podcast Metrics Industry measurement tools provide comparison data for the overall podcast industry market (“total market”) *as measured by Triton Digital*.

**Podcast Metrics Industry Market Share** shows how your downloads compared with other podcasts in your market, broken down by download share and download trends. This is useful as a way of benchmarking your podcast’s performance within the industry.

- **Download share:** a pie chart showing your publisher or market compared with the **total market**.
- **Download trend:** a line graph showing your publisher or market compared with the **total market**.

You can monitor up to **six podcast assets** on each Market Share graph set, and create up to four sets. Use the Filter to select one or more publishers or markets. You can mix the asset types; for example you can select one publisher and two markets. You can also [save views and easily retrieve them later](/docs/pcm-market-share#saving-and-retrieving-views).

Each asset selection is represented by two graphs in the graph set. The pie graph on the left shows **Last month** by default and the linear graph on the right shows **Last 13 months** by default. You can change those data ranges using the drop-down selectors.

6. Download Trend **data range**. Default is Last year, but you can click to choose a different range.

**To view Market Share data:**

1. On the **Market Share** page, use the **Filters** to select the assets you wish to monitor.
2. Use the first filter button (**Content**) to select up to six podcast assets (publishers or markets) from the list that appears. *You cannot mix publisher and market selections within a graph set, but you can create additional rows where you can select a publisher in one row and a market in another row*.
3. Select a country from the list. By default, United States is selected; you can select a different country or more than one country. (See [Country Notes](/docs/pcm-market-share#country-notes), below.)
4. (Optional) Click +Add new to add additional filters. See [Optional Filters](/docs/pcm-market-share#optional-filters), below.
5. Click **Apply** in the sidebar to apply your filters, or click **Apply and Run** to apply the filters and run the report immediately.
6. Optional: change the data sessions for the left and/or right graphs.

### Optional Filters

Optional filters include:

- Category
- Device Family
- Player

### Country Notes

The countries list is based on **the top 20 countries** by download volume over the past year for podcasts measured by Triton Digital, listed in alphabetical order. By default on a new report, the United States is selected as the country. You can change this to be any one or more of the countries on the list.

> [!NOTE]
> If your podcast asset has no downloads in the selected country/countries, the report will show zero downloads.

## Viewing the Market Share Graphs

Once you run the report, the benchmark graphs appear in two columns (**Download Share** and **Download Trend**) with each asset in a separate row. You can refine the charts by selecting different data sessions.

### Adding More Rows

Click **Add new row** at the bottom of the page to add additional rows with more data sets, in which each row can show a different filtered item or data session. You can add up to four rows.

When you add a new row:

- The **publisher/market** and **country** selections from the previous row are copied as a starting point for the new row. You can change these settings if you wish.
- The data ranges in the new row reset to the default ranges. You can change these if you wish.

## Saving and Retrieving Views

Once you have set up a report with the various assets and views that you like, you can save that view and retrieve it at a later time.

**To save a new view:**

1. Set up the report in the way that you want to see it again later; select the **assets**, set up the **column views**, and select the **data sessions**.
2. From the **Options** menu, select **Save**. *If the Save items does not appear on the Options menu it means you are already viewing a saved view. Click Reset on the Options menu to clear the saved view and try again.*
3. Give your view a name. *Tip: keep the name short and descriptive in order to make it easy to find in the saved views selector. Names do not have to be unique.*
