# How to install and use TeamViewer for customer support

The Triton Digital Customer Support and Implementation teams use [TeamViewer](https://www.teamviewer.com) to access your computer for support and installation purposes. It can also be used to configure your live-stream encoding machine, as well as for troubleshooting and other support work.

By default, each time you grant Triton Digital access via TeamViewer it is a [**one-time access**](/docs/how-to-install-and-use-teamviewer-for-customer-support#allowing-onetime-access); TeamViewer will not allow the same credentials to access your machine again, so you must go through the process of establishing and sharing one-time credentials with Triton Digital whenever we need to work on your system. You have the option (recommended) of creating and sharing a [**reusable password**](/docs/how-to-install-and-use-teamviewer-for-customer-support#creating-a-reusable-password-recommended) with Triton Digital, which means less hands-on work and back-and-forth messaging on your part when we need to work on your system.

## Download and install

**Download and install TeamViewer for Windows** following the instructions and the download link from [TeamViewer](https://community.teamviewer.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/How-do-I-install-TeamViewer-on-Windows-7-8-and-10/ta-p/1389).

**Note:** choose the "**Default installation**."

Once TeamViewer is installed, it should launch itself. (If not, then launch it yourself.)

## Allowing one-time access

In the "Allow Remote Control" section you will see a one-time **nine-digit ID number** and a **password**.

**Send that ID number and the password to Triton Digital Customer Support/Implementation**. This will allow us to access your computer while TeamViewer is running.

When your work session with Triton Digital is finished, **close Team Viewer**. Once it is closed, the access you granted is no longer valid and you will have to repeat this process if we need to access your computer again.

## Creating a reusable password (recommended)

To avoid the hassle of always generating a new password and sending it to Triton Digital, create a reusable password. Note that Triton Digital will only be able to access your machine when TeamViewer is running.

**To create a reusable password:**

1. Start TeamViewer.
2. On the "**Hamburger**" (Options) menu select **Extras**, then **Options**. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/7124b381-0a94-401a-abbd-9df9c4ea5dff/Images/Documentation/teamviewer-extras-options-crop.png)
3. On the **Options** menu, select **Advanced**.
4. On the Advanced panel, click **Show Advanced Options**.
5. Scroll down to the **Personal password** section.
6. Enter and confirm a new password. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/7124b381-0a94-401a-abbd-9df9c4ea5dff/Images/Documentation/teamviewer-enter-pw.png)
7. Click **OK** to exit the Advanced Options panel.
8. **Send the new TeamViewer ID and password to Triton Digital**.
