# Changes to Delivery Method for On-Demand Publishers

For more accurate, consistent forecasting, reporting, and targeting, we’re changing how delivery methods are labelled and processed in Triton Metrics, TAP, and TAP Programmatic. This change gives these improvements for publishers who are connected to Triton via On-Demand:

- Consistent mapping between the delivery method and the content type.
- Consistent reporting and trafficking for direct and programmatic flights.

> - [Create a Flight](/user/docs/creating-a-flight)
> - [TAP Programmatic](/user/docs/tap-programmatic)

Triton ad servers now maps **feed-type** from [ad requests](/user/docs/od-ad-request-parameters) to these content types.

| For these feed-type values in ad requests | Use this content type in TAP Flights and TAP Programmatic targeting |
| --- | --- |
| **podcast** | **Podcast** |
| **radio, pureplay** | **Live** |
| **music, game, replay, text2speech** | **Other (On-demand)** |

> [!NOTE]
> When an ad request does not specify **feed-type**, or **feed-type** is not one of the values below, Triton maps the ad request to **Other (On-Demand)** as the content type.

## Date of Activation

Triton Digital activated this change on September 23, 2025.

## Transition Period Support

Triton is taking proactive measures to ensure that your campaigns continue to deliver seamlessly:

- There will be a transition period of 28 days.
- Triton will automatically update all direct flights, programmatic deals, and programmatic settings that are currently running or scheduled for future dates to include the appropriate content type, **Live** or **Podcast**. For ad requests that declare other values for feed-type, Triton automatically updates settings for **On-Demand**.
- Flights and deals that are already completed or archived will not be modified.

This approach should alleviate any concerns about manual updates and ensure continuity across your trafficking setup.

## For TAP Users

When creating or editing a flight:

- **Delivery method** has been renamed to **Content Type** to better reflect the type of content.
- **On-demand**has been renamed to **Other (On-demand)** to respond to ad requests with a **feed-type**that is not **Live**or **Podcast**content

## For TAP Programmatic Users

For content targeting, **protocol** has been renamed to **content type** to align with the naming convention we use for direct flights.

## Impact on Trafficking

Starting from the activation date of this change, to respond to ad requests that declare live content (**feed-type** is **radio**or **pureplay**) or podcast content type (**feed-type** is **podcast**):

- Flights in TAP: Must specify the corresponding **Content type**(formerly called **Delivery method**).
- TAP Programmatic: Must target the corresponding **content type**(formerly called **protocol**).

## Impact on Reporting

Triton Metrics and Explore applications are already reflecting the content type that is declared by **feed-type**in ad requests.

Note that TAP Explore continues to show **Delivery Method** as a dimension or metric name, not **Content type**. However, it still corresponds to content type in TAP flights and TAP Programmatic targeting.

## Impact on Forecasting

For TAP users, during the 28-day transition period, starting when you declare the feed type:

- Avails may show partial data if only one content type is selected.
- To ensure all relevant historical data is taken into account when calculating your forecasting metrics, we recommend selecting at least two content types when generating an avails report. For example, select **On-Demand** and **Live**, or **On-Demand** and **Podcast**.

We’ll ensure you’re kept informed of the timeline so your team has adequate runway to prepare.

## Take Advantage of This Change

Pass the [feed-type](https://help.tritondigital.com/docs/od-ad-request-parameters) (**podcast / music /radio /game / pureplay /replay / txt2speech**) so that you can declare your content type as **Live**, **Podcast**,****or **Other (On-demand)** content:

- Before this change: Declaring the feed type resulted in impressions recorded as **On-Demand**.
- After this change: Declaring the feed type records impressions as **Live** or **Podcast**.

For Triton-triggered ad requests:

- Live ad requests: the content type is already correctly labelled as **Live**.
- Podcast ad requests, the content type is already correctly labelled as **Podcast**.
